Riyadh: Amazon Alexa has received over 140 million requests from customers in Saudi Arabia and the UAE in 2024, highlighting the region’s growing engagement with voice technology.
KSA and UAE users rank among the most active globally, leveraging Alexa for smart home control, entertainment, and spirituality.
Smart home device usage in KSA and UAE increased by 35%, with more customers integrating Alexa into their daily routines. By December 2024, the average customer interaction reached over 180 per user in both countries.
Spirituality remains a key use case, with users initiating over 5.1 million prayer reminders and 1.69 million “Athkar” actions. Entertainment also remains popular, as customers engage with Alexa for music, news, and media updates.
Football continues to dominate Alexa interactions, with over 5 million football-related queries from fans in KSA and UAE.
Saudi club Al Hilal emerged as the most frequently discussed team, with fans engaging four times more than Al Nassr supporters. Globally, Barcelona was the most requested international club, followed by Real Madrid and Manchester City.
Alexa’s success in the Middle East is fueled by deep localization efforts, supporting Khaleeji Arabic and offering region-specific content. This approach has driven a 28% growth in monthly active Alexa users in KSA and UAE in 2024.
